Christmas around the world

Like many communities, Serra has special Christmas traditions. From Adopt-a-Family to the Christmas concert to the decorating of the lovely tree in the main lobby, we do it up in festive style while collectively honoring our faith and the beauty of this important celebratory season.

As we move into the colder, rainy months, though, we may be looking for something to do and see off campus and indoors. Bowling is fun, and indoor rock climbing or a movie keeps us occupied, but the Bay Area offers other amazing things right in our own backyard that we tend to forget about. Banning Books : The Wrong Side of Truth

In recent years censorship has seen a resurgence throughout the United States. The numbers are staggering. PEN America has recently identified 1,648 challenged or banned books in 2,532 cases in U.S. school districts from July 2021 through June 2022.

New to the U.S. Public Domain in 2022

What is old can now be made new again! The Story of the Christmas Crèche

Inside our homes, where we display our more precious decorations, we often find the family Christmas crèche. The blessed nativity scene comes in so many forms. As Christians around the world celebrate the birth of Christ the crèche can be a reflection of the culture in which it was made in addition to being a remembrance of the Christmas miracle. In many families, the Christmas crèche is something that is passed down through generations.
